rMBP - Bootcamp, gaming. Resolution question(s)

Hi folks,

With the upcoming release of the new retina Macbook Pro I will be taking the plunge and picking one up, my first mac.

The only game I am particularly interested in playing on the rMBP would be Rome 2 Total War when it is released later in the year, great for killing some time as I travel extensively with work.

To that end I will be installing bootcamp and probably windows 8.1.

My question pertains to the resolution, and I was hoping that those who already have a rMBP and play the occasional game on it could perhaps post some screenshots etc.

There is no way the machine will handle the game at 2880 x 1800, so I would like to know what the display looks like running at 1440 x 900...

At exactly 1/4 of the pixels, does the display still suffer from blurriness when not at native res? I understand that you need to add this as a custom resolution either in the nvidia control panel or with a registry hack. Any other dramas I should be aware of?

Thank you in advance for any advice. :)

The new rMBP that's rumored to be Haswell based may not even have a dedicated GPU so I'd maybe hold off researching custom resolution hacks until we know what it is unless you go for one of the current models :)

Hi Cokecan, thank you for the reply. :)

I did have a similar thought myself about whether they would stick with nvidia graphics or not (765m perhaps if they are?).

Assuming they are (not long to find out now) I am up to speed on how to play at 1440 x 900, i guess I would just appreciate some feedback from those who have experience with the rMBP as to whether the display is very blurry or not when you do.

My current laptop looks awful when not at native res, is the screen used by apple better for this type of thing in the windows environment?

I am also interested in this.

These are the reported supported resolutions - 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1280x800 and 1024x640. I'd have thought these would look okay but it would be nice to hear from someone who's tried it.
