Road chaos today

Just ventured out for the first time, a journey to the local gym which takes 5 minutes took me 35. Was quicker on the way back right enough but still, it's hellish. Carriageways, slip roads, streets, the lot have abandoned cars everywhere, makes driving even more of a nightmare - Single lanes, giving way, having to reverse all the time.

Reminds me of last week..

In a blizzard type snow storm, going downhill around a sweeping corner, and someone has parked their superbike at an angle all on the road, so it sticks out about a metre..

I would put money on that being taken out later in the day as I nearly hit it and it was very hard to see (no lights, small bike, snow coming down thick and fast).

No idea why it wasn't at least parallel to the road so it only stuck out the width of the bike, let alone just pushed onto the grass..

I was watching the news last night and how they were "demanding answers" and desperate to blame someone for the road conditions.
What a load of balls, its snow, it happens, man up and deal with it!
The weather reports all say the snow is going to be bad and only to travel if you have to, so its not like you didn't know things would be bad.
Bad driving, badly maintained vehicles and being badly prepared are the main reason for the problems. 30+ years ago in cars that were far inferior to todays traction controlled anti skid cars everyone just got on with it.
I saw another interview saying that people should muck in themselves and clear their paths, or the pavement outside their house or even of a neighbour that isn't able to. It's a good idea and it's what would have been done in years gone by. The reporter then asked "what if someone slips on a part you cleared, who's liable?"
Yep back to the blame game again.
All courts should just agree not to allow pay out to any slips or falls on ice this winter, take all those stupid blame/claim adverts off and get everyone to step up to their responsibilities and to grow up!!
