So fitted my Look Keos, wasn't too hard, I'm usually pretty rubbish at installing stuff on my bike, had visions of me snapping something. Hope I used enough copper paste and torqued it enough, sadly I should have done a bit more research, the Look Keo Classics (with the steel spindle) need an 8mm allen key to install, I have a cheap set so I wasn't able to put quite enough torque as I wanted. Hopefully it'll be ok.

The DHB Carbon road shoes aren't too bad, the finish is rough around the edges, and the stitching isn't the best I've ever seen but the carbon sole looks good, need to head out on Sunday for a longer ride and to get the cleats in the correct position.
I'm also a bit wary of the ratchet system on the shoes, I can guarantee it'll be the first thing to fail, feels flimsy and I don't put too much faith in it. But hey, you get what you pay for and I guess if I were to buy again, I'd maybe look at a Shimano, they certainly feel better built.

Also picked up a Giro Atmos as well as I only had a bulkier, heavier MTB helmet previously.

So expensive day!

I can't remember if one of mine is an Atmos, I've had it a few years, does the job.

/goes off to google Giro photos

edit: Yep, it's an Atmos. Very comfortable and lightweight.

Really I want to know how bulky it is; Mrs A turned round yesterday and said 'i didn't realise your helmet made you look so stupid'.

It is a touch bulky and with my long face I'm a bit mushroom headed.....

I don't think it's all that bulky. I tried on a couple of Specialized helmets and they were typically a lot bulkier.

The Ionos was one I looked at also, but didn't fancy spending £170 and in fact the Ionos is a bit bulkier also I found. It sat taller on my head than the Atmos.

To be honest it doesn't look or feel odd when wearing it so I'm happy in that respect.

Picking up my new fg bike tomorrow morning... very excited. Not decided whether to buy the carbon wheels that the bloke is selling or just keep my existing ones (open pro on phil woods)

It's the Monza that I've currently got so I'm looking for something a bit sleeker.

Looking forward to pics oddjob, but how can you say no to some bling deep rims? You know you want to.....

Went for a brief spin this morning, shoes feel great, although need to get the right one sorted as my foot was starting to go numb, probably over tightened the straps.

I swear though I spend half my time sat at red lights :) I was sat at a Temporary traffic light on a small country road for about 5 minutes at one point.

But I refuse to run red lights, no matter what or where.

Have you been assessed for a leg length discrepancy? It's more common than you'd think - it's fixed with a shim between the cleat and shoe.

Yup, I've been recently diagnosed as having a 5mm discrepancy; you should see the size difference between my left and right quads as a result.

I'm getting orthotics and a shim.

It's incredible what difference that'll make as well. I think my right leg is a little shorter than my left as I seem to have a hyper extension issue behind my right knee on longer rides. Hopefully that'll be resolved in May.

Took my Raleigh out for an enforced ride yesterday (queue in the post office so long from experience I know it takes less time to ride to the next town and use their post office ) and the headstock bearings had a bit of play in them. Got back and decided to give both the bikes a going over with the spanners. Tightened everything up on the Raleigh and nipped up the bearings in the front wheel using my new Park spanner. Yum, nice fit. Swapped the wheels on the Viscount back to the 27's. Used my rebuilt rear and borrowed the front off my girlfriend's bike until my other new spokes arrive. Can't wait to ride tomorrow. It's going to be a lovely morning and I think I'll have to take the Viscount out :)

I tried on both the Atmos and Ionos in store when I was looking to buy a new helmet a couple of summers ago. Although they look fairly similar, the fit was different. I preferred the Ionos and went with that, despite being quite costly, but what isn't with bikes and cycle clothing and accessories?

Indeed Nexus :) thankfully it seems Giro have a few options for differing head shapes :) The Atmos fitted me better, saved me a couple of quid as well, so that may have weighed in a little :D

Had a few problems clipping in today, going from dual sided SPDs to the single sided Look Keo gave me a few problems. But once I remembered to flick the pedal around it wasn't too bad :D

I like the cleat covers you can get for the Look cleats. Its a shame that Shimano dont do them for the SPD-SL, would save a lot of wear from walking around in them.
