I would like to replace my rather old Altura Sympatex cycling waterproof.

I had a fondle of a Gore Shakedry yesterday in my LBS and was amazed at how thin / light it was. The reviews of Shakedry jackets generally seem to rave about it:

I like the idea of not having to look after a DWR coating on the outer fabric. Downside is the price, £250 for the latest versions that have a bit of colour in them (I'm not one normally for day-glo bike gear, but if the weather is minging, a jacket with some colour theoretically adds some extra visibility). Also at that price, I wonder about how robust the jacket is long term - I'd want a few years out of it to justify it.

Pactimo have a new jacket called the Torrent which is much cheaper (30% off the £160 list price) but that has a DWR coating to look after.

The Sportful Stelvio is another option but it's almost the same price as a Shakedry.

Thoughts?
