Road Cycling

true but I don't have the time to pop down to one :/ weekend only! derp. gunna measure one of the spokes and maybe get an idea for length!

I'd say go for 25mm, pro 4's are fat and 25mm looks more like 28mm haha.

LBS tend to be open on weekends! Phone one in advance and you might even get it sorted while you wait

The Diverge will take up to 35mm (some 32's with guards) so one of the reasons I got it was for running bigger tyres to help with the rough roads around here! :p

Mine came with 28mm's and I'm sure they are much softer than the 25mm's I run on my Defy. At some point I may even swap tyres over to see (have a part worn 25mm GP 4Seasons I'll probably 'use up' in the winter).
Anyone tried these vs GP4Seasons? need a new front soonish (i run a sticky front and a hard wearing rear for commuting - current rear is a durano)
Grip is good, but better on the GP 4Seasons. They're good in wet weather too - I came from the V1's to GP 4Seas and now GP2000sII's. None of them felt particularly 'bad' grip wise (even in the wet), I just prefer the feel of the Continentals. Hard to judge but I think the GP2000sII's feel faster than the Pro4Endurance V1.
Wiggle delivered within 2 days  (ordered Monday afternoon on standard free delivery)
Awesome! Ordered some stuff yesterday (inc Keo pedals & cleats) and would be nice if it came tomorrow! (I'm off work friday). Completed on new^house today and got a set of keys! :D
What's with all the white walled tyres I'm seeing about online lately?
Retro is the new Modern?

On the topic of tyres... any suggestions for Gumwall/Tan options 23's or 25's?

Wiggle have these and whilst I would drool for some Bontrager R4 320's £110 for a pair is too hard a pill to swallow

Have been on Schwalbe One's for over a year now and absolutely love them. After 'dat der' aesthetic for a new bike... but don't want to be falling off regularly as a cost :p

I love my Veloflex Masters. about £50 for a pair from ribble, really light. Not the most puncture friendly or long-lasting, but the way they feel is powerfully erotic.

My GP4000S arrived today, I've only just put on a brand new set of 4-seasons though, so will be a while before I can try them.

How do they fare as a commuter tyre? I heard the puncture protection isn't the greatest. I'll probably put them on the summer bike if that's the case.

Had a blood test this morning (my first ever!), so hoping to get to the bottom of my health issues, and finally put them to bed once and for all.

I decided to hold off installing the Vector pedals until the weekend, I figured I needed a bit of practice with the Look cleats before I start commuting with them. Does anyone recommend some Look compatible pedals for my bike that's not going to use Vector?

Finally, if anyone wants any of the following:

New Yellow SPD-SL cleats (free to a good home)
Shimano Ultegra 6800 SPD-SL Pedals
Shimano 105 5800 Carbon SPD-SL Pedals

I'm sure I can do a good deal :)

Slightly different shade to the Bontrager ones but I can recommend Vittorias. At 320TPI they feel amazing but don't expect them to be the most robust tyre around compared to say GP4000s.

Cheers guys will take a look at both of these.

Shamrock have you had noticeably more punctures or do you just mean with regards to longevity?

I can't say I've had more punctures but I believe they are less puncture resistant and will have worse longevity overall. Such is the nature of these high TPI, lightweight, plush tyres!

PBK also doing a reasonable price on the Veloflex...

I went the other way, ran GP4000s tyres for about 3 years & averaged 1700-2000 miles before they were worn out. Averaged around 3-5 punctures as well.
Since moving to 4 Seasons I've not had one puncture & last set did 4,500 miles on the rear before I decided to change it & to be fair it wasn't really that worn.
The front one has done 5,500 miles so far & is still in good condition.

I'll not use anything else now, as the minor rolling resistance gains from the 4000s tyres isn't enough of a reason for me to use them anymore.

Thanks, I've seen the Vittoria Corsa's for £36 each, both are 320TPI though the Veloflex are a little lighter... The Vittoria are near identical to the Schwalbe One's in terms of stats & resistance.

I will put some fair old mileage on to these quite quickly so longevity is quite high up as a requirement.

All these kinds of tyres are one-step-down-from-tubs racing tyres i'm afraid

Were who I used, going to be getting another pair soon for the Pinnacle. Going to get some 50s I think for racing.

Cheers, they don't appear to offer anything for fixie/single-speed though.

Found these which seem reasonable...

Novatec sealed, flip-flop hubs and under 2kg. Maybe not the most practical commuter wheel, they might fall apart on London's roads!:D

Interesting, my last set of 4 Seasons only lasted 3,000 miles before the rear gave out. I also had 8-10 punctures in that time.
The new set I fitted punctured within 500 miles as well. Maybe it's the roads round here or something.

GP4000S don't have great longevity compared to 4 seasons. I've just picked up some of the lifeline ones after reading the great reviews and they seem pretty good so far. Went for the armour version for my commuter.

4Seasons don't have great longevity so I'm pretty disappointed to hear that GP4000SIIs are even worse. *strokes his Pro4 Endurance V2s lovingly*

I had a set of 4seasons get completely ruined just by a few hundred miles around France. They felt lovely whilst they lasted, but there's no way I'd buy another set - they just fall apart on anything but the smoothest tarmac.

Pro4's are where it's at. There'#s nothing that comes close for £22.

Ordered a Gabba 2 from Evans as Wiggle were out of stock in my size/colour, and it turns out Evans use Hermes to deliver. What a shower. If I'd of known, I'd have gone into a store to collect instead. They've already failed one delivery attempt (not even carded!), and I don't have high hopes for the next one.
