There was one set up on dock road between Liverpool and Crosby this morning in rush hour traffic.. Caused a 6 mile traffic jam. It was there when I came back from work and there was a copper asking random people to pull over into the the other lane for a bunch of people to ask questions about where they've been and where they are going. Whats the deal with these if I was to say, ignore the copper and carry on going?

Andy

Meh.. Nevermind then, hope I don't get anything in the post! :)

Seems such a stupid idea doing them in rush hour though, absolutely no point!

What's the point of collecting data in quite periods. Yes it is annoying, but essential. It is the only way to collect the data needed.

But in rush hour traffic.. Causing a 6 mile solid 2 lane queue?! Its a joke.

They don't need to know where I've come from, where I'm going or where I'm going to park.

There is, they don't have to do it in rush hour.. The road is still busy during the day. Its just stupid doing it during rush hour.

But people heading down that road are all heading to the same destination, doesn't matter what time of day they do it, if they're only asking where people are going, everyone driving down there at rush hour is going into Liverpool.

I've never seen it cause problems like that. When I've been stopped. They use a lay-by. And just fill it. Rest of the traffic goes on un-affected.

That wouldn't have been as bad, but the dock road is two lanes each way. They'd closed one side down to one lane and the other side had closed off the outside lane and were filtering people over into the closed of lane on the other side to ask them questions. Meaning that two of the four lanes were functional. If they had done it 100 metres or so further up the road, there was a perfect layby that they could have used, infact the cops regularly use that bit for speed trapping and it never causes problems.

They must be doing a large survey here as the blocked off Queens Drive by the 5 ways roundabout last week, the tail back went all the way to the M62!

I've seen them in a few places around Liverpool now, and further down the dock road towards Crosby.

Guessing they must be considering building a bypass or new road near you then ?

I can only hope! It takes me an hour to drive 15 miles in the mornings.. Although I can't see them spending anymore money on roads. They still haven't finished the rest of the stuff they've started.

I bypassed 1 of these years ago on my way to work when I worked in Twickenham, they had decided to set up the pull-over at a t-junction which caused a hell of a snarl up, just ignored the copper as I was already late for work. Never heard anything but I did drive a company car at the time and company always paid things off without telling you.

Thats good! :) He didn't turn round or to look at my number and he just flagged the next person in. I wasn't in the best of moods and I was damned if I was stopping for a bunch of people to ask me questions.

Seriously, just how many times were you dropped on your head as a child?

I take it you don't drive to work in heavy traffic then?

When you spend two hours a day getting to and from work, an extra hour because of the census, and delays the other way because of the other lane closure are a nightmare.. You clearly love sitting in traffic jams.

arent you a charming individual

Yep.. I just don't see why my day should be disrupted.

Had this in Bootle (A5036) near the Netto, think they were moving it to the way you go home as I was driving back - and yeah it did cause a silly amount of traffic.

Grr!

Edit: Hope it isn't still there, in the week I've been away I hope they've moved to annoy some other people instead.

And another one today at the top of Parliament Street, made me late for work..
