Roald Dahl Books

There is no shame in liking Roald Dahl. His books are excellent. I recommend his adult shorts. There is one in there about a card player. I can't remember the name and i read it ages ago, but i thought it was excellent.

edit: 'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and other stories' is the name of the book. It was aimed at a 'slightly' older audience, not adults, but i was young when i read it, so i probably thought it was an adult book.

Either way, this thread makes me wanna check out a few more Dahl classics :D

Well it's just that people think that it's for kids only. It's something I grew up reading myself but it's not often you see adults reading it.

What with the popularity of the harry potter books and such, I dont personally see a problem with it. I'd happily revisit the Dahl now. I can't imagine anyone here (especially considering most of us grew up with his books) looking down on you for wanting to read some Dahl :D

I hope that kids these days don't dismiss Roald Dahl in favour of the likes of Harry Potter and other more "fashionable" books.

Absolutely loved ready all of his books.

I have this book, not read it it many years though. Remember enjoying it very much, always remember the one about the guy in his new car who picks up a hitchhiker. Might give it another go when I have the time.

It's Fantastic Mr. Fox for me. Mr Dahl is a brilliant author - and that's coming from someone who isn't really much of a book reader.

Boy is brilliant

He also did some adult stories which are worth hunting out, ive got a book somewhere which is a collection of short stories with a twist - kind of Tales of the Unexpected types. I think the book is called Kiss or The Kiss, i cant recall for sure

Although I do like JK Rowling, it's nice to see people on here remembering Roald Dahl. I never really got into the other author though - Enid Blyton.

Alongside Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton was definitely one of my favourite childhood author. An excellent read, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for adults. I can't remember, it has been a while since I've those books.
