Hi guys,

I looked at system today that seemed fine at face value, hadn't been updated for a while (1903) but was working alright. The main issue for the user is that when they login to Windows (was password, now pin) they are greeted with a couldn't sign you in warning message, although they are still able to get into Windows. I think there was a warning message in the system tray about being logged into a Roaming Profile... like the warning say, any files that are downloaded aren't retain after logging off.

I found these images online but they are the same:

Any thoughts? It's really weird but they have full access without issue to their MS account etc.

Roaming profiles in 2020? Yikes. If you must roam, you should be using enterprise state roaming.

Anyway, I suspect there are far more detailed logs in event viewer. I'd be inclined to log in as an admin and delete the user profile and let them log in again. Logging in will require an active connection to your domain either in the office or over a device tunnel (not user) and that will rebuild the user profile.

You might also need to consider removing any user profile tattoos from the registry

Does the user have a connection to the domain controller? Are they by any chance working from home without access to the main network at the office?

Thanks guys! Nope, this is just a regular Windows 10 Home (MS account, 365 etc.) which is all okay apart from being logged into a Roaming Profile each they log on.

They've been trying to install the 2004 update but it keeps failing after the restart, probably because of the profile issues... there are a few account registry edits you can do apparently, I'm going to have a look at that later. Also wondering what would happen if I created another local admin account - see if I can install 2004 that way?

Creating another local admin account can't hurt to be honest.
