I was under the illusion that roaming profiles in a server 2003 domain, only transfer the data that has changed since the last log off, not the complete profile as it use to be in a 2000 domain. IF this is the case, why then does it take so longer to load a profile on an XP machine that has a large profile, versus a new roaming profile? Surely, if the large, used profile, had been saved to the server correctly when logging out, when it comes to logging in, it'll simply load the profile from the copy on the local PC, so it should be pretty instantaneous, other than the fact of authentication and establishing the correct permissions etc........

Can see IE's temp files could cause the problem, also, users are storing files on their desktop and in their my documents folder. This user in particular has nearly 4GB of files shared beteen the two locations. I didn't think this would cause a problem as its stored on the local PC?
