GeForce 2 MX400 32mb
256pc133
crappy cooler (cpu running at 75oC for 5 years!!)

to:


Athlon 1300
Geforce 3Ti 200 128mb
512mb pc133
crappy but far better cooler

and as im sure you can guess we really pushed the boat out as far as expenses went...

its basically an office pc with a few games from about 2001 / 2002 so it didnt need much

should do him for 3 to 6 months whilst he saves for his new one.

It will certainly run Doom 3 even though it will have to be lowish settings, the extra system ram and graphics ram will defantly help out.

I don't know if you remember but a while back in the graphic card forums there was a link to a guy who had got SLi'd Voodoo 2 cards running Doom3 so you ought to manage it

Did you buy a separate stick of 512mb Ram? If so why not run it with the original 256mb for 768mb?

i bought a 32mb 72 pin simm for my 486 dx 33 from pc world 8 years back... £70


i also remember how impressed i was when i got a 250mb hard drive !!! went up from 40mb...
