I have been thinking about getting a robot vacuum/mop for a while but i am not sure how well it will work for my house. So i have a large open living room with laminate flooring with a large, reasonably thick rug with the coffee table on in the centre, and a couple of matts at the front door. Then i have a door to the kitchen with then a little hallway with a bathroom off it, all tiled floor. So will a decent one be able to handle that or am i wasting my time/money.

Similar sort of setup here, I have the Roborock S6 or S7 and it's okay but the mopping function is average. It has a mop pad it just drags along the floor. I'm looking at the Eufy X10 Pro after @DRZ's recommendation which will lift up the rotating mop heads when it detects carpet, and then move the Roborock upstairs for vacuum only.

I have the Eufy X10 - which replaced my ageing and no longer working with the app/able to connect to wifi Neato D7. I have carpet living room and hard floors elsewhere and I'm genuinely impressed by how clean it all is now! Especially impressed with teh mop, the floor is cleaner than I've seen it. It wasn't cheap but got it for £600. If it lasts as long as the Neato, I'll be more than happy.

Yeah, eagerly watching hotukdeals for it to come down in price again, can be had new for £680, or refurbished on eBay for around £550 (however looking at reviews I decided against the refurbished unit from that seller).

I have the roborock S8 - the mop vibrates, and it does lift the mop when it goes over carpets.

I did a fair bit of research a couple of months back.

The verdict seemed to be that there's no point buying one without LIDAR these days, since you can get ones with very cheaply.

Mops get mixed reaction, some people think they're rubbish. They do seem to either push the price up, or result in a poor performing machine if you find a budget one that includes it.

Then you've got the question of whether you get one with an emptying station, or just empty it yourself.

I managed to snag a Samsung one for ~£200 with emptying station but no mop, which I'm pretty happy with. And mopping ourselves once a week after it's cleaned is a doddle.

I think this is all sounds advice with regards to mop/vacuums, although I've been testing the Switchbot S10 for months and it's amazing - haven't touched in weeks and weeks and it just mops/vacuums itself and empties/refills it's water from the mains... next generation, well worth a look!!

I got the Xiaomi X20+ the other day and must say I'm quite impressed with it. It has mop functionality which works pretty well too, all in all I can't really fault it for £290. Manages to vac everywhere in about 30mins and then another 30 to mop. It has the functionality to vac and mop as it goes but I've not tried that yet just opting to do a full vac and then mop.

Setting up no mop zones for where our door mats are was easy, and also setting up the same zones to give a little vac boost as they are carpet and not tile was also easy.

All in all I'm v.happy with it as our entire downstairs is open plan and tiled floor.

The mop feature on this is one where it wets the pads when it's in the base station then goes out and cleans the floor, then returns after about 8m of mopping to clean the pads and re-wet it. Time will tell how good it ends up being but it seems to do a good job. It's also nice setting it off when we go to bed or when we go out and waking up/coming home to clean floors!

I've had a eufy g30 or whatever for years now.

I think it was only about 230 when I bought it.

I barely ever use the real hoover, like maybe every 3 months, Tempted to upgrade to a better model that does hoover/mop

they aren't just a gimmick they are brilliant. although when I do eventually get out the big miele and do a full house hoover, the type of dust it picks up is different, like really fine power, so the bots do not get everything, but they will get them visibly clean.
But saying that the newer models are twice as powerful suction as mine.

With mainly hard floors though you should be good just to robot as long as you can one that mops after, you will manually have to clean the corners of rooms though theres a tiny arc they miss

massive thread on them here btw,
