Hi all.

I bought a pair last week and am struggling to get used to them. I had a set of sony XD200's and the surround was awesome. Maybe it's me not liking the different in sound/quality.

Anyone else have any issues with these head sets?

Just a personal opinion (and probably representative of one camp)...

True headphone 5.1/7.1 sucks. The effect is minimal, I find it rubbish for localisation in online FPS, and you sacrifice sound quality. Stereo headsets/headphones (like your xd200s) outputting from a good sound card with virtual surround, is actually a lot better, especially for gaming.

In fact I sold my Kave a few months ago and just bought a TT eSports off OCUK earlier today. Nearly pushed the button on some more expensive sennheisers but the TT headset is priced as a new competitor to the market and looks great value for money.

I love my kaves :) For gaming and 3D positioning they are really fantastic. Deep bass, clear sound and best set i've ever used.

I once swore by my cave's but the inline amp (the USB bit) picks up all manor of interferance, some cards it's ok no back noise some it's not (click sounds etc). Just gone back to my creative Fatality stereo bins and no sound interferance, much crisper sound, using THX virtual surround on my onboard sound and I find myself looking around for where the chopper is in BFBC 2 its that much better.

Safe to say that the Kaves are my last 5.1 headphones and it'll be quality stereo bins and virtual surround from now on.

I also had some Sony XD200's and then moved onto the Kaves. I wish i would have known about Dolby headphone when i had the XD200's because the kaves were pretty rubbish as an all rounder headphone. Music was terrible and it felt as though the Drivers (speakers) were being played down a tube.

The XD200's are probably the most comfortable headphones i've ever worn. The kaves felt like giant coconuts in comparison. I sold them and upgraded to the popular (on these forums anyway), NS1000's They blow the XD200's and Kaves combined right out the water. Positional sound using Dolby Headphone in games is much much better, they are bassier than the kaves and XD200's, the treble is more defined and they cost less than the kaves.

Got my Kaves yesterday. Just listened to Celine Dion Live in Vegas on Blu-Ray in glorious true 5.1 24bit DTS, it sounded so good I literally had tingles going down my spine at some points.

Even standard CDs up-mixed to 5.1 sound so much better.
