Roccat Kone Gaming Mouse

My brother has been having problems with his PC hanging on start up ever since he got this mouse. When he starts up the PC it just hangs on the first screen with the Dell Logo.

He unplugged the mouse and it started instantly, as normal. He has tried different USB slots, uninstalling the drivers and using Windows drivers.

He changed the USB in the Bios to Off and No Boot, nothing changed. He is using the latest drivers and firmware.

The PC will eventually start up after powering it on and off a few/several times and then everything works as normal, but the PC can now not be trusted to startup.

Weird power issue maybe? Disable the lights in the mouse and reboot.

Or check boot order and legacy usb settings in the bios.

Or maybe it's set to halt on no mouse/kb. So change that in the bios or plug in a ps/2 mouse as well and try that.

His PC just started coming up with a message saying

"Alert Ithr"

It seems it's a problem with the motherboards onboard USB slots. It's going to be a bugger to replace the motherboard as it isn't even under warranty.

If he a bought a Belkin USB PCI Card, would it work or would it still be the same?

I'm putting my money on that, my system detects the mouse as a KB during post.

He had a look the BIOS but couldn't find 'no mouse/kb' option.

Try getting a powered USB hub, connect that to the PC and then the mouse to the hub.

Try the mouse in another PC, perhaps it is faulty.
