Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has seen this issue with the roccat kone+.

Got it at christmas time a gift from my wife, last night i got a bit tired of the damn thing deciding on occasion it would jump so i did what most PC savvy people would do and try to narrow down the problem.

I sent roccat a support form asking them, i played around a bit on google but found nothing. I then decided to give the TCU (traction control unit) a whirl.

Now......my mouse wont track....only thing it picks up is on metallic silver surfaces....fortunately i did have my old spare mouse kicking around so im not completely lost....does anyone have even the vaguest idea how to rectify this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated especially as this mouse seems to be so expensive :P

Thank you again for your time

John

EDIT: I should add, ive tried resetting the drivers but this seems software only, ive tried putting older firmware back in again no dice....im not sure what else i can do

TCu is massively overly sensitive - would definitely turn that off for starters.
if you have turned it off, then god knows. sounds to me the drivers have spazzed out - have you tried it on a diff pc?

hey iamtheoneneo :)

Yes ive tried a different pc, my wifes laptop has xp and a shiny winxp badge on its top....doesnt track on the black surface but it does when passed over said logo...

As i mentioned ive filled in roccats form but im not really holding much hope of a fix. Would much prefer a fix than send back to wherever it came from really.

I would have to think it had a "hard" reset option but no amount of googling has came up with anything useful...

EDIT: and yup i turned the TCU off :P

Hmm, I have the original roccat Kone which sometimes tends to go all jumpy like as if the mouse was hovering (guess this is to do with my icemat) but it tends to sort itself out after 5 seconds or so of moving the mouse and cleaning my pad :p

There is no dirt on the laser ? O.o I also found TCU to be awful never seemed to actually benefit me :p

last night was the first time i considered using the TCU, the mouse itself doesnt always jump it seemed very tempremental, i did get the occasional invisible wall, as in on screen its halfway over the desktop but its behaving as if its at the end of the screen.

Its almost as if the laser cant actually "see" the black mouse surface anymore, its weird....

Still waiting on Roccat to get back to me also but im not holding out for anything off them for a day or 2 yet

Yeah it took a day or so to get a reply for my other Kone where the middle mouse button broke :p They replaced it with me just sending the mouse off to them :)

That is odd, I have the Kone V2, and I dont seem to have any problems really, apart from a slightly simialr problem. For example, if im watching a film with the mouse just sitting there unused, it may on occasion decide to move like 1mm, causing the cursor to show up as well as the players control panel, which is annoying. I am not sure however if this is because my mouse bungee, the Roccat Apuri, is pulling on the cable or not. If I give it a lot of slack and put it right next to the Apuri then it doesnt happen so much.

I have mine with a Roccat Sota mousemat and it seems to work fine. I believe I have TCU on and is calibrated to my Sota pad, with latest drivers and firmware. You problem seems strange, as these mice are supposed to work on any surface as long as it is calibrated. You sure the mouse itself is not faulty?

it could quite possibly be a mouse issue to be honest, im beginning to come to the conclusion that an RMA seems to be the only option :(

Im still hoping that there is someone out there who as seen this before and can save my day :D

The TCU for my original kone didn't work, it was always jumpy. So i have never experienced it properly.

Also i find if your mouse is playing up, there is usually a hair under the laser :)

i think if youv tried everything you can , then its RMA time.
not sure on kones CS, i have the v2 myself - never really had a problem with it, gets sticky everynow and again but thats it.

oh i presume in the manager youv set dpi to something like 1200? just to see what happens....

I've just bought a Kone+ myself, and also noticed my cursor jumping, kind of like the mouse is sometimes hovering slightly. Did a google search and found this thread. I have only just messaged Roccat so am awaiting a reply.
In the Roccat software under Advanced Control, there is a Driver Reset button not sure if that will help your situation.

yeah im thinking RMA time it is....ive tried the driver reset button it only seems to be the software that gets reset...i think ill just RMA it as it seems to be the safest option, its only 3 weeks old so there shouldnt be an issue

Hey

I own a Kone+ but I've not really had this problem. Rarely the mouse cursor does a little "judder" but I give the laser a blow and that sorts it - so I guess just dust for me.

so roccat got back to me and confirmed it was indeed a hardware defect and it would have to be RMA'ed.....

Problem solved - not in the best way but its solved none the less

Same mouse as you, but on a Razer mat. Does exactly the same thing. The movement is small enough to bring up the pointer&panel.

Just out of curiosity, I've just tried leaving the mouse on it's back while watching a video so the laser cant really do anything, and it's fine. They just seem to be over sensitive. Apart from that, it' a great mouse.

Ha ha, yeah thats exactly what I do :P Sometimes If the mouse is in a good position it wont do it, but if it does then I just flip it over. NOt a real problem as you dont need to use the mouse when watching a movie anyway, and this does seem to be my only gripe with it. A simple solution.

I think they may be a bit over sensative, however I found it strange, as one of their selling points was the fact this mouse is supposed to reduce cursor flying :P 'The precise Pro-Aim Gaming Sensor effectively reduces Pick-Up-Flight.' I suppose that is for when you pick the mouse up to move it back to center or something though.
