Roccat Kone +

DIY?

Anyone else thinking of taking it apart and fixing it yourself?
Perhaps somebody has done this already, does anyone knows?

I dont want to open it to open it because the warranty will be void, but at the same time I dont want to waste 20 euros to send it to them again. This is my second Kone+ and I'm not very confident that they will send me a better version than this, the first lasted for 6 months and this now 2 months.

Who's got the balls? I dont atm :D

Roccat?

Avoid, like the plague - All Products.

Useless, useless company. My v1 Kone middle wheel/button broke and while everyone else was RMAing I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Mine broke, Kone washed their hands of it, totally unaccommodating, did not want to know - at all. Spoke with them directly on the phone and it was a blanket No - We will not do anything despite it being acknowledged as a manufacturing defect.

As a result I will never buy a single Roccat product ever again.

And what mouse did you get after it?
I really like the shortcuts combination on my Kone+, I'd take anything that can offer as many macros/shortcuts combinations without a phone dial pad attached to the mouse (literally, wth is wrong with razer naga lol :) )

I've had a roccat taito mousemat for just over a year now, and it's worn better than the previous qpad. As for the 2 broken Kone mice, they each lasted about 3 weeks...

in the unlikely event that anyone cares, the DVD drive i mentioned earlier arrived after about 28 days, but only after the mods shouted at samsung.

however, i havent had a chance to test it yet because i left the damned thing at home (im in university accommodation right now)

by the sound of roccat you could be waiting a looooooong time

I'll add my flames to the fire. It's been a lesson learned the hard way; avoid Roccat at all costs. I bought a Kave headset and Kone+ at the tail end of last year.

The Kave was dead within a few hours of use, but an advanced replacement was offered by the retailer (not OCUK).

The Kone+ had rave reviews and the 'fixed' scroll wheel which swung my decision at the time. However, seven months in and the scroll wheel is broken. Recently, I have also had no end of ghosting / jumping problems (despite trying every setting imaginable in the drivers) and the decal on the back wore off after only a couple of months. Not what you expect for a near £70 outlay.

It's gone back for an RMA, but between Roccat and OCUK, I've really been given the run around. I originally sent a RMA request to OCUK, who directed me to contact Roccat. Roccat responded with a message that it was a hardware fault and I should contact OCUK for a replacement. After a couple of messages back and forth, OCUK offered me a refund, which was to be provided when the mouse wheel was confirmed as non-functional. Since then, I have waited over two weeks with no word.

So glad I read this, I was going between the Roccat Kova Ultra-Light and the Logitech MX518 and was actually leaning towards the Kova as I understand that Logitech products are very well made but the higher DPI and the more buttons of the Kova was persuading me. I will avoid.

Alright time to look for a replacement for my Kone.
The thing that I really like about the Kone is the shift button, I have so many macros assigned that its going to be hard to get used to a new mouse without it. I was actually going through that while waiting for the RMA with a spare microsoft mouse.
Anyone knows a particular mouse with this kind of shift button also?

Anyone else care to throw in an advice, a recommendation? Anyone loving their mouse right now?

The first on my list right now is RAT7/5( they are pretty much the same to me, think id go with 5 because its cheaper).
