I've noticed there are no rock climbing threads! I love rock climbing. Rain, sun, sleet! It's a brilliant sport to keep fit and gain stronger arms. plus you get lot's of fresh air! :D

i travel all over scotland, not been to england yet but i will one day :) just a bit far for a day's climb.

any rock climbers here?

i like indoor but i love leading a climb. the buzz from the risk of falling :D i'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie :p what grade did you climb?

yeah definitly, i've done many leads all over scotland. i'm currently planning to go to thailand. there is a place there which is a rock climbers heaven :) the hardest i've climbed is a E2 but i can do E1 and HVS quite easily.

About fire munki losing a new nut and new quick draw, that sucks! all tho the sport is fun it's also quite expensive. anyone climbed abroad before?

Talking about putting your placements in the wrong place. a mate and myself where out climbing in kingussie, to get there you have to walk for a good 15 minutes up hill to get to the climbs. my mate was leading and he slipped. he fell 15ft all his nuts popped out, and luckly he had just missed a massive rock. i had to carry the gear and hold him up back to the car then rushed to the hospital. gave us both a scare but we're back into the swing of it now.

every sport has it's risks but that's what makes it so appealing.

Its always hard to get back in after a lay off in anything. I missed 3 weeks over xmas and my hand stregth just disappeared. I knew I could do it but just couldn't hang on.
Trying in vain now to hold back my desire to buy some evolve optimus primes.

yeah it sucks over the winter period, do you have an indoor wall near you? maybe you could go there once a week/fortnight just to keep up you'r technique and strengh...

no but bouldering is great for finger strengh no matter inside or outside! how high one climb doesn't make them a good climber. technique and skill are the key elements, i would say, to focus on when climbing indoor.

Enjoy the outdoors and the climb when outside. dont take the same risk's outside as you would inside. it's a lot safer in side than out side.
