Rockstar Blames PS3 Firmware For Overheating Issues

My PS3 is fine with the new update. Next to silent and cool to the touch, and it has been on non-stop with FIFA, the least efficient game known to man, since 3pm.

How can the game be at fault? Surely the hardware can only run within its limits?

Whoa! There might be some truth to the story of Phat PS3's overheating with 3.61. I was playing a blu-ray movie (BTTF) and my fans kicked in after 20mins and pumping out a bucket load of heat! I've never heard my PS3 so loud, it's usually virtually silent. Any idea if they are resolving this?

Yeah my PS3 has been heating up and getting loud very, very fast since updating.

6 hours of Noire so far and no locking up as of yet.

been playing god of war 3 all day with no real speedup on a slim if thats any help, do we have a list of games that are affected?

Ive been playing Dead Rising 2 for 3 days pretty solidly, not a hint of increased fan speed or freezes/crashes. Slim version.

As stated it's the OLDER PHAT PS3's that are being effected, the slims are fine

Well my phat PS3 is all fine after the update. Going to play L.A Noire on it later and I sure hope then I won't have to regret not getting it on the 360...

On Thursday Night Throwdown, after about an hour, their PS3 goes insane. So loud you can hear it on the video. :/

My old PS3 chunk, since the 3.61 update, has the fans kick in within 30 minutes of playing BFBC2. It's DEFINITELY the PS3 and Sony's fault.
