All of my previous Asus MBs have been stable and reliable, no problems. But since upgrading to 11th gen CPU and this XIII MB I have had constant problems and still getting them. This is not a cheap MB, and I certainly never expected all this instability issues. I had to return the system to my PC supplier as the PC kept shutting down and reporting Kernal Power problems! There are USB issues with this MB and its drivers, as some devices are not recognised. No such problems with previous Asus Maximus VIII MB and this was always reliable and stable. And now the MB will not update to the latest BIOS 0902. Correct naming M13H.Cap but EZ Flash says 'Selected file is not a UEFI BIOS'?. I hate this MB, and I feel like ripping it out my system and crushing this XIII MB to pieces! Then return to my faithful VIII MB system, and then look for another 11th gen MB.

I feel your pain. There's nothing worse when you've spent big money on a new piece of hardware - it's hard to trust it again after persistent problems.

I had a similar problem on an older Asus board - the fix was to format a USB drive as a fat32 disk (has to be fat32) and copy the bios update to it before rebooting and pointing the updater to the USB drive version of the bios file. Like I say, it was an older board but it might be worth a go?

Good luck man

it's worth noting for ez update you don't need to rename the bios file, you only need to do that for bios flashback. Also is a good idead to change windows settings so file extensions show, i've occasionally screwed up flashes by renaming and changing the file extension.

I'd download the zip again, then extract the .cap file directly to a usb formated to fat32 then reboot and try ez update again. It should work....

Thanks for replies. I have fixed the BIOS update, now 0902. My fault, I forget that it has to update on FAT32 memory stick, NOT a NTFS drive folder. Seems to be more stable after Bios update. However, it does not change the fact that I returned the MB Bundle back to my PC Supplier for testing, and was without it for 2 to 3 weeks. In the meantime I re-installed my trusty Maximus VIII Hero and i7-6700K, and this worked fine with the RTX3090 GPU, No problems or shut-downs, and the Oculus Quest 2 Cable Link worked fine. The Quest 2 cable link has never worked with this XIII MB. So because it worked fine with the VIII MB, there has to be a USB driver related issue with the XIII MB?

I feel for you, that ain't a cheap mobo but good job you kept Sandybridge! I hated getting rid of Hero/6700k last summer, but thought it would bottleneck 3080. That combo was rock solid @4.8ghz for years :)

I upgraded from a 6700k/Maximus VIII board to a 11900k/Maximus XIII board.

First day, had instability on default BIOS. Updated to the BIOS that was current at the time, no issues at all since, rock solid stable as my previous setup was.

Currently on BIOS 0801, not tempted to update as everything's running so well. Running two cores on 5.4Ghz, rest on 5.1Ghz.

just to let you know, we are currently conversing with Asus about an XMP/Turbo related stability issue with number of Z590 ROG & Strix boards which we discovered during our own build testing process. Manually locking speeds seems to fix the issues. it's only when you leave the board to its own devices that the issues appear. Ironically, we've had systems more stable at 5.1GHz all core than left stock. We don't believe it to be a hardware issue so my advice would be to stick it out for a BIOS fix.
