Hi,

I'm currently on the latest bios for the ROG Strix Z790-F Gaming WiFi II motherboard with a 14900K CPU.
I have the setting in the bios set to the intel one and Extreme.
Under Asus multicore enhancement it is set to - Disabled - Enforce all limits.

Am I correct on thinking this is for thermal control only? I have ample cooling.

Other options I have in this section are...
Enable - Remove all limits
Enable - Remove all limits (90c)

remove all limits without the 90c I assume has no safety temp control?
All protected voltage spiking included in later bios revisions will not be changed?

also, is there any other area where I can set a custom temp like 80c? think I've seen that either displayed or shown to be able to change it on a youtube vid at some point.

I understand that the limit is to stop cpu from degrading but I'd like to see how much this setting is effecting performance.

Thanks in advance to any helpers.

Can anyone please help with this?

Thanks in advance.
Been awhile since I looked into this stuff, there are some fairly detailed articles on the web about the settings with the later BIOS and they'll be better than reading my response.

I believe the impact is mainly only seen in heavily multithreaded workloads where the CPU is being hammered, due to the power and voltage limits.

If you're mainly a gamer, then it isn't something I'd be concerned about.

I think Asus MCE allows all cores to boost to the highest turbo multiplier available. This would likely increase everything, power usage, voltage and temperatures. I'd recommend that you leave it disabled.

I'm not sure what this applies to, what is the context of the "limits"?

Buildzoid did some testing with this and I think he found that making any manual adjustments can cause the fixes to be lost, but they may depend on the individual board being used.

You should set the Intel profile to extreme with your 14900k, can't remember if that enables XMP as well but that should be set. Don't enable anything to do with multicore enhancement etc.

For the 14900k you should be able to set a small undervolt on the cpu which will help extract a bit more performance out of it.

What you want is:

AI Tweaker > Global Core SVID Voltage:

Offset mode: -
Offset voltage: 0.13500

I came from a 14900k myself but after intel replaced my cpu they sent me a real turd of an example so I replaced it with an AMD.
