Hi, this is a bit of copypasta from my thread on the graphics sub-forum.

Basically I'm having some issues with either my new ROG swift or gsdync, and I can't seem to find anyone else that's had this issue, just wondering if anyone over here has experienced the issues i'm having. Thanks in advance :)

"The monitor is fine, for the most part, however, when I enable gsync, my card won't go beyond 10-12% utilization and frame rates tank. Disabling gsync and the effect disappears.

Anyone else had this? Or am I going to have to RMA this monitor that I have wanted for so long :("

DDU and clean install drivers before doing anything too hasty, failing that try an alternative dp cables or dp port on the gpu.

the only display port cable I have is the one that came with the monitor. and I only have one DP port on my classy! I do have a 750ti here so I'll try it on that too.

Ive never been one to use ddu but I've give it a shot, fingers crossed for this reboot!

Ugh, this is so weird. ANd incredibly frustrating.

So I was using a 750ti alongside my 780 for physx. So first I disabled to 750ti in device manager - no change. then I re-enabled it and disabled the 780. shutdown, moved the DP cable to the 750ti and gave it a go. It seemed to work! kind of.

So this time I shutdown, removed the 750ti from the system, and firmly re-inserted the dp cable on both the gpu and display. holy balls it worked... for a short, sweet time.

Took arkham knight for a blast, and it was excellent! Then thought I'd give gta 5 a bash, also brilliant! Didn't even need to lower any of my settings coming from 1080p, just bumped the res and off I went. Buzzing!

So then I went and applied my (WIP) overclock on the card, and after a while the driver crashed (not stable OC) and it kicked me out. Now it's doing the same again. gpu util only going to around 10 percent.

I don't think it will make much difference, but I'm gonna grab a different DisplayPort cable from work tomorrow and give it a try with that. something isnt quite right here.

Nope, not had any real issues with it in the 10 months or so I've had the swift. Try leaving your card at stock for a few days this time and see how it fairs?

Cards not boosting up after a failed OC is very common, it isn't related to gsync though, and yes a reboot is often required to get the card working right again - in this case it also sounds like cycling gsync is helping to reset the card, but no your swift is not faulty

I think you misunderstand - I was having these issues before any overclock was applied.

With gysnc enabled, the actual utilization (not boost clocks) of the card only hits around 10%; with gsync disabled, I get 99-100 util on the card. I have tested this on all refresh rates the monitor has to offer and the issue persists.

If the new displayport cable I'm taking home tonight doesn't work, it's getting RMA'd and I'm going for a different model I think. I really don't want to, as other than the gsync issues I'm having, it seems like a cracking monitor, but after looking into all the other issues people seem to be having with the swift, It doesn't fill me with confidence in the longevity of the thing either.

Well, good news and "meh" news - Changing the DP cable has appeared to have a made all the difference, despite my skepticism! Gsync is working fine now and it's pretty friggin awesome!

But, what's with the high idles and utilization at 144hz? that's quite annoying. going to see if I can figure a way to quickly switch between 120hz and 144hz for desktop and gaming use respectively. Maybe a batch file or something?

There is a button on the monitor for that? looks like a speedometer
