Spent most of this morning looking into the pros and cons of these two monitors
The PG279Q is a flat IPS screen that and the PG27VQ is a curved TN. You-tubers seem to give a harsher review of the PG27VQ curved TN. However the more favourable reviews of the flat PG279Q are 2-3 years ago so maybe more ground breaking at the time for its price?

Obviously it would be great to have them side by side but I don't know any one that has either and there's no store for 100 miles likely to have both on display.

I'm a keen gamer but I'm not 100% hardcoring it every spare minute. I appreciate great visuals and a smooth ride, good blacks have been something that I've looked for in the past. I'm currently using an Iiyama 27" black hawk which I think is a TN panel. Been fairly happy with it as a budget display so any step up would good I guess.

I have a RTX2080 so after the G-sync capability. I'm not massively bothered about a curved display but open to it if it really makes a visual improvement. Viewing angle isn't a massive issue as I tend to sit square on but the IPS seems to have the edge on that. Both monitors are a similar price but what do I go for? The more I've researched the more undecided I've become lol.

The PG279Q is great choice and still one of the most recommended monitors out there, in some cases the IPS panels have a better response time than some TN panels. Tftcentral is a great site to get some more in-depth information. Also a good alternative with just as good reviews/recomendations is the Acer XB271HU.

Its a good monitor and my first from TN > IPS I was mightily impressed. Think I've had mine nearly 2 years now.
