I love my ROG SWIFT PG348Q superwide monitor, but I often have two computers connected on the displayport and HDMI. Has anyone discovered a way to switch bettwen DP and HDMI without using the joystick, or have any clever suggestions?

Navigating the menu with the joystick is less than ideal, but my biggest concern is that using the joystick to switch multiple times a day will wear out the joystick.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that isn't really an option as I use g-sync on the DP for gaming (besides switches and KVMs being very expensive and haven't seen one that takes HDMI+DP in and does DP out while preserving framerate and g-sync.

Ideally I would like to program one of the buttons or use software that could tell the monitor to switch from DP to HDMI, and back. It doesn't seem to detect when HDMI or DP is attached either and switch to the new source.

I have PC + laptop connected at the same time because laptop is work and PC has my music and everything else.

I normally have some sort of music playing in the background when i work from home. I handle it by remote desktop from my work tablet to my pc. works well enough for that task. Remote in, queue up some music, minimise the window and get on with the work. Could be an option :)

Something that annoys me actually - more and more monitor manufacturers seem to be hiding the ability to switch sources away deeper in the OSD making it less and less easy to quickly change let alone take advantage of any more modern techniques like software switching or via some kind of remote system. Most of my older monitors had a single button on them that would swap sources but none of my recent ones do - despite often having a ton of buttons for other things that are usually less than useful.

That a great idea..

Remote desktop was how I used to have my HTPC connected to my monitor at same time as my main PC system

But only windows pro versions support Remote desktop unless you use a third party app..

Been switching between HDMI and DP on my devices on a daily basis on the same panel for over a year with no issue.

Joystick and buttons will be fine.
