I'm excited ... I cant deny it, Its down in Lahndan Tharn and not been there for ages and I'm really looking forward to it, big adventure for us, Sleeper train down from Inverness to London .. always fun to go from one end of country to the other overnight, not much sleep will be had though because of adrenalin, even local shows I cant sleep the night before, because I'm buzzing with the anticipation of it all.

Good hotel sorted near venue, The London Paladium, all should work like clockwork, but it never does and thats what makes it an adventure I suppose?

I suppose you could call me a big Pink Floyd Fan, these Roger tickets cost nearly £500 each, am not joking, its sort of premium package and what exactly that entails I want to leave for the night as a surprise.

Seriously though and after seeing Rogers "This is Not a Drill" shows in June, saw it two nights in a row at Glasgow, just had to do this too.

I do have a lot of time for Roger, Gilmour too ... I don't take sides, but these two shows in London are unmissable for Floydian fans.

Totally something different.

Today is release day of the album. I’ve listened to the tracks he’s released already and out of context, they’re a bit odd.

But Roger’s albums are always a little odd on first listen. I’m looking forward to a few replays of this to get my head around it.

I think both of their music suffered when they went their separate ways.

As much as they don't get on professionally they needed each other.

You have Gilmour with the airey guitar sound, then Waters with big baselines and drums.

Together you get a masterpiece.

But you could tell they started going in their own direction, even when they were together, particularly in The Wall album, you can spot the more Waters/Gilmour influenced (respectively) a mile off.

Indeed and neither of them will admit it.

I’ve seen Pink Floyd play live. I’ve seen David play live and I’ve seen Roger play live (all multiple times). After what Roger said at a recent concert about how some people should **** off to the bar, I’ll never go and see him again.

I think that was more along the lines of ‘people that love Pink Floyd but can’t stand Roger’s politics… go to the bar.’

I mean, it’s fair enough tbh - if you’re going to see Roger Waters, then you should expect to see… Roger Waters.

I went to one of those shows and there were a bunch of people loudly whining behind me about the political messaging and my eyes almost fell out from rolling so hard… I mean, what did they expect? I don’t begrudge people not liking it, but they needed to stfu and watch the show or just leave.

What's all this Redux business all about then?

I saw Waters and Mason about 20 years ago at the London Arena, they performed Dark Side in it's entirety, complete with all the lasers and the flying pig, it was absolutely epic.

I listened to DSOM-REDUX yesterday and to be honest, i found it very hard going. The only saving grace from the whole thing was "Money", very dark with overlays of evil, which is what the track was always about anyway.
On the whole i found the album pretentious and certainly is not something i will play again. In my mind it's an album that did not need to be reworked and should have been left alone as the great original work that it is.

He said (and this is my recollection, not his exact words)

‘There will be people in he audience who are here because they like my music but don’t like my politics. Those people can **** off to the bar’.

I like his music, I like the music he created with Pink Floyd, I like the music he’s created solo. I don’t like his politics. I didn’t whinge about it during the show, I enjoyed the music and ignored the other stuff. But according to Roger, I should be in the bar.

My initial impression from the couple of tracks released already was that he’s gone out of his way to remove anything that David was involved in. The riffs, the solos, everything has been expunged completely. But they don’t get on, that’s not too surprising.

I’ve still not listened to the entire thing as I’m not near any sound system that’ll do it justice.

@Feek I think the emphasis was on those that “can’t stand” his politics - you can find it on YouTube but not family friendly so I won’t link! I think the message was more aimed at the moaners behind me than people like you, but it’s up to you to interpret it as you wish :)

Going back to the album, I find the idea of revisiting it and reworking it a bit ‘odd’ conceptually. I might give it a whirl but low expectations :o

It doesn’t help that I’m sort of ‘over’ Pink Floyd in my typical musical listening and exploration. There’s so much other stuff out there and I’ve given Floyd decades of attention.

Good point, I never thought of it like that.
Getting a proper singer in would still sound like Gilmour's melodies.

Yea I'm in the same boat, don't get me wrong one of the all time greats and always will be but if I'm honest I haven't sat down to listen to any Pink Floyd for many years now.

I mean, I'm going to see a Pink Floyd tribute band (Floyd in the Flesh) in about 2 weeks time, so shows I still love the music, but otherwise it's not in anything I regularly listen to.
