Rogue and mages

Hey,
My friend and I are now starting up a character each for the darkside of the wow (horde).
We have both decided to be bloodelves and are looking at being a mage and rogue.
Can anyone give us advice on these classes?
Our alliance characters are both warriors and we are looking to branch out into different directions to help make it more enjoyable and to offer better suppport for each other in the game.

Also if people can add any other supporting combinations that would be well received.

Although many might not agree I personally think that mages are the best class in the game and I love my mage so much.... Just to do phenominal amounts of DPS is such a nice feeling :p

If you want to play and level together (and your only going to play said characters when your both online together) I would say maybe a priest and mage, SP can give back mana to the party etc.... If you dont want to tank any more then maybe a pally and mage, (pally takes hits and dps and the mage can dps on top). Me and a friend did mage and lock and that went down really well as the lock used his pet to semi tank opponents.

Never played a rogue, however I understand that they can knock out massive amounts of damage and are fun to play.
 
rogue is the most fun class in pvp just because u can sneak around people and they have no idea your there. wait in the shadows for the perfect time to catch someone on their own.

they may not be imba but they are the most fun in pvp, i choose my rogue easy over my pala and mage.

oh and you can get a glyph that lets u sprint across the water which is awsome.

I found a sneaky little Rogue trying to get a friend of mine when I was my druid. He was sneaking up on him and as I was higher lvl i could see him. So I was behind him. Then just as he was about to attack I slaughtered him and we did a merry dance on his body lol
