Rolling shutter

Atleast give your own opinion on it :S This has been discussed to death in a few other recent threads anyway.

I would say that it can add a unique look, but it seems to be more of a technical hitch that has become accepted by some as it is inevitable depending on what equipment is used.

It's not great, I agree that much.

But really when you see examples of bad rolling shutter it's when somebody has a cheap HD camcorder that they are waving about as quickly as possible to really show it.

So many films are being shot now on the new digital formats and seem to be getting by, despite rolling shutters. Personally though I'd rather see a film that's been shot on negative over one shot digitally, any day of the week.

They did an episode of House MD a year or so ago using just 5D2s. Couldn't tell the difference.

There is no fast panning or motion in House in general. And they didn-t use just 5DMK2s. For starters they had to use a whole set of them due to overheating problems. The cameras themselves were also the cheapest part of the outfit and were heavily modified to allow good focus pulling etc.
