ROM BIOS checksum error

I bought a Asrock 939 DUAL-SATA2 (939) from a competitor in mid-January. All was working fine until about 2 weeks ago when it randomly died. There was no BSOD or any warning, it was as if i had a powercut. I tried turning it back on about 5 minutes later and nothing. I got 2 short beeps, followed by 9 short beeps. This, apparently, is a ROM BIOS checksum error.

I RMA'd the motherboard and there was no problems in having it returned. I received the new one today, hooked it all up properly and as carefully as i could but making sure i only have the bare essentials component wise and i still get the same error. I'm positive that they have completely replaced the motherboard rather than having it repaired (brand new sealed box).

I'm a little worried now that it is one of my other components causing the problems. I have tested with all different / spare components but i can't test my CPU to ensure it isn't faulty as i don't have another socket 939 board or processor! Any suggestions or should i speak to the supplier directly?

Asrock do have the facility to be emailed directly with technical support questions on their website, although it does take a few days to get a response.

Is there anyone else you know who wouldn't mind letting you try your CPU in their board, or try their CPU in your board?

I had a major problem because of out of date bios, my new revision chipset wasn't supported by the bios version shipped, and i was lucky enough to get someone to lend me thiier chip for flashing, i don't know if that's an option for you.

Unfortunately not, by the looks of things, the competitor doesn't want to have anything to do with it!
