I don't think RomComs as a genre are necessarily for girls. There are some good ones around imo. There is a big difference between romantic comedies and chick flicks.

For instance...

Notting Hill = Rom Com

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days = Chick Flick

So I dare you to admit what your favourite romantic comedies are!

My favourite is "Click". Easily. I'm not an Adam Sandler fan at all, I really don't rate any of his previous movies. But seeing him in the serious scenes of this movie really changed my opinion of him. And Kate Beckinsale is hot. :D

I wouldn't think of it as one no, it's as rom com as Ace Ventura.
I disagree, I think Bruce Almighty is definately a rom com! I'd count Groundhog day too. Both great examples of rom coms that are not just chick flicks.

Edit: And how could I forget... Meet the Parents!! :D

Edit2: Oh and Mr and Mrs Smith

I think peopler are confused with the diffrerence, movies like the Wedding Crasher are a comedy first (usually physical comedy) with an element of the main character getting a girl. "Strict" rom com are light hearted first, funny comes from the light hearte element. they are also funny because of the sharp dialigue and witty script. Not because the character got his johnson bitten by a monkey or took a shotgun to the buttocks. When Harry Met Sally is a PROPER Rom Com, some might say the BEST. The humour comes from the dialgues and no one gave speed to a poodle or caught his penis at the zip.
I guess there are two types of rom com... one with the emphasis on comedy, and the other with the emphasis on romance.

Perhaps the former should be known as "com rom"? :D

When Harry Met Sally is the only rom-com blokes routinely admit to saying is OK. Even knuckle dragging neanderthals, whose idea of romance is knocking a woman over the head and dragging them back to a cave by their hair, are allowed to admit to enjoying it without being laughed out of the pub.

And just to prove I'm not one of those types I like The Truth About Cats and Dogs, While You Were Sleeping, Shooting Fish and .
I actually found sleepless to be reeeeally dull, I much prefered You've got mail.

And here's another good one IMO... Sliding Doors.
