Rome: Total War Mods

Hey, I've been getting back into the game and was hoping someone could point me in the direction of some good mods for the game that are Steam compatible as well?

That would be your best bet, haven't modded Rome myself, but any I got for Empire or Shogun 2 are compatible with Steam

A good mod I play is Rome Total Realism VII and it works with the Steam version.

Europa Barbarorum and Roma Surrectum are quite possibly the best RTW total conversion mods.

Hegemonia City States looks quite interesting if you're into the times of Hellenic Domination. Fourth Age makes for a good LotR mod on the other hand.

I suggest you play the vanilla game as much as you can first as you will have a hard time going back to it after experiencing the quality of modded content and the constant development.

My Rome playtime probably exceeds most other games.

Roma Surrectum and EB look good, I'll try them out later.

Couldn't you possibly make a copy of your RTW folder (or two for that matter) and choose these folders for your mods?

I think you should be able to run it outside Steam.

Total Realism was the best mod imo - actually, one of the best mods I have used with a game.

I could try coping the folder, should work hopefully.

I've got RS installed and I'm playing it at the minute. Loving it, can't see myself going back to vanilla Rome.

I've played eb a lot in the past few years, amazing how good it is. Totally fixes Rome TW from being unrealistic to being a bit more believable and interesting

Europa Barbarorum II looks so promising and yet so far away from any realistic ETAs...

This mod (for MTW2) has been in development for years and I can't see it being played by any larger audience in the near future.
