Rome Total War patch confusion

I just bought RTW and having searched the forum and net I am a bit confused. I see the official patches are up to 1.5. However, the advice on this forum and elsewhere sems to be to go for the realism patch. Any arguments against this?

Looking at the realism patch I see the original is v6 gold but there is an adapted version (platinum) which runs on official patch 1.5 whereas the original is for 1.2. What is the best one to go for? I assume the platinum but if anyone could give me some pointers before I install that would be good.

Get and install in this order.

Offical patch 1.2
Offical patch 1.3
Offical patch 1.5
Rome Total Realism 1.6 Platnum
Rome Total Realism 1.7 Platnum

then play

Oh and dont forget to go the Germans because they have a unit so detailed you can see there willys

They arnt Germans as you know them today, They are called Germans because they are a large Germanic Tribe that used to shift around Europe and western Asia and follow a certain season and Land Fertility

Leaving aside German willies for the time being, So you would definately recomend going straight for the platinum mod instead of rtr6 gold or vanilla rtw? I am only going to be playing offline.

Yeah I only found that out recently, am still playing gold atm.
But if you have yet to do your install then go for the platinum.
The realism mod just takes the game to a new level, once you've used it you'll never want to play the vanilla version again

Yep

It saves you from doing a Fresh install and it is 10,000 times better then Vanilla

The 1.7 platnum patch is still in beta but i havnt found any bugs with it yet

And its the best one to play off line because you get more things to look at graphics wise and you get more involved with a much bigger world map.

It will be rare if you do find someone else playing with it online ive found
