Not played a RTS game in years and I love Roman history.

Does real strategy work in this game, flanking etc. or is it just a case of throwing as much as you can at an enemy like old RTS games?

Also, are there any good mods for it?

Thanks for taking the time to read. :)

P.S. I see you can get a .ini file to enable widescreen support, how well does this work?

There is quite a bit of strategy involved. Just having bigger number won't gurantee a victory, also you have to use the right types if units against each other, spears V Cavelry, hit spearmen in flanks/rear ect.

Also there are loads of mods about for it including the brilliant Rome Total Realism. Link

Not too sure about the widescreen though.

Yeah its a very cool game IMO, I'm just constantly wanting to play it at the moment, Its a lot like an expanded version of Shogun which I also thought was excellent.

The tactics are great, I've had some horrific victories, 500 men facing down a gaul attack force of 1600 and winning! Of course I did have lots of trees on my side, and 150ish heavy cavalry :)

If you like roman stuff, and are after an RTS game this has it all, deep tactics if you want them, Turnbased and realtime stratagy, loads of units, loads of different factions to play (Some are a bit samey but there are quite a few with there indervidual and uniqe units).

Laods of mods, and as someone above said, a cracking Rome Total Realism mod. For the price its probably going for now it would be a good buy. You can get a pack with Rome and barbarian invasion addon pack.

here you go, Rome: Total War Gold Edition, £17.99, great value for a great game that will provide great fun!!!

Link removed ffs :(

[Removed - you assumed wrong]
