Ron Dennis apparently as bad at driving as he is at cheating

Oh, get a sense of humour Masterdog....:p

Of course he's not a moron. Same way that Jean Todt isn't either, not that this has stopped certain members on here from calling him one. But the old "the car behind was too close, I couldn't stop!" defence holds about as much water as a burst pipe. He must have been receiving some spectacularly bad advice from his legal team.

That, or he's a moron :D

Already 9 points on his licence beforehand = had it coming.

I'd have watched the speed (and the lights) in a paranoid way if I'd screwed up enough to be in range of losing my licence the next time.

"There were only two other cars around but I felt that it would be more prudent to continue rather than stop," he told the court. "It was the decision I took for which I realise I'm here to take the penalty, but as I have said I really need my licence. I have no hardship but I would have a massive amount of trouble not being able to look after my daughter at the weekends."

Er... are we supposed to imagine that the rich owner of McLaren cannot afford a Taxi.

What a pathetically whiny showing.

Clearly he (and his legal), were unable to come up with anything else, other than the excuse he gave.

The simple matter is that he screwed up and he is just going to have to take the hit and hire a chauffeur.

Yes, because the whole spying thing was soley and completely Ron's doing...

Not solely, but after he found out about the cheating fiasco, he should've had the nous to bury the incident. A good step would've been to ask all employees to destroy/delete any information which might incriminate McLaren in such a conspiracy. Step 2 would've been to tell the employees who were involved never speak of the incident. Thirdly, when Alonso did his spoilt brat impression and threatened to "shop" McLaren for cheating, Ron (at his age), could've silenced Alonso. Alonso is a clever guy and would've known that shopping his employers would not have been a good idea.

Cheating happens in F1 all the time, but most teams are smart enough to cover it up in a way that the powers that be, never find out. Personally, I think Denis was in the process of "losing it" and the fact that he retired as head honcho of the F1 team, a few months later, would suggest that he also felt it was time to go.

Technically it was Luca de Mentalzemolo's fault then.
After all it was a Ferrari employee who gave the data away. ;)

Yep, you could absolutely say that. But who is more at fault here - the team boss whose disgruntled employee went and handed sensitive data over, or the team boss who was stupid enough to not be able to keep it under wraps? ;)

As I said many a time on here - by all means lie, cheat, steal, lead a break-in to a rival team garage and photograph their car like the Doc did....just don't get caught doing it. McLaren and Ron got caught, and paid the price.

Unless you're Renault of course. Then you can get away with all kinds of ****
