Just heard Iris being covered by Ronan Keating and my god is it terrible.
Its one of my best songs of all time but his version just plain stinks.
What does everyone else think of this??
I seen the music video a few days ago and thought that he must have covered it a few years ago, the video walking along the beach is cheesy and the cover is just plain bad.
Don't like it at all... though do love the original version. He ruined another song a few years back - I Hope You Dance. It all comes down to personal taste, but the originals were definitely better.
He just cant do the "And I dont want the world to see me" bit .
Dont get me wrong I do think he is quite a talanted singer and I do like a couple of his songs but this one ahhhhhhhhhh just makes me want to punch him and I dont get violent
I heard it on the radio the other day... It baffled me at first, because it sounded so much like the original, but just not quite right. Then the DJ said it was Ronan and I was like "WHAT!?!?!". It adds nothing new, and as has been said he can't sing it right so it sounds worse. What's the point of covering songs if you're not going to do something different with them or at least do them justice in recreating them?
What concerns me is that there will probably be people out there unfamilar with the original thinking "christ, that's a good song, maybe that Mr Keating isn't as bad as I thought....".
I've made the same mistake with cover versions in the past myself.
Granted the Goo Goo Dolls aren't the greatest band in the world but Iris is a brilliant song which, going by what you lot have said, has now been ruined by an ex boyband member
After hearing this I want to find that STFU pic of the two middle eastern blokes and one is in the middle of slapping the other.
Ronan let you career die gracefully - you have annoyed millions of people with your brand of kareoke driven pop ballard drivel, take that as a sucess and bugger off!
