Hey folks, being a complete 'last minute person' I tried to put our roof box (Karrite Odyssey) on my car this evening, only to find the holes did not line up properly - no matter how much I moved it forward or back, one end didn't fit.
I didn't have this issue last year as we used Modula bars on our old Seat car which had a raised rack roof bar system, but this time I have Thule Wingbar Evo (118 I believe the model is) and it appears they don't seem to fit that box! It's on a C Class Mercedes (W204).

The Karrite uses 'U bolts' which go underneath box into the hole, then are tightened from inside the roof box with black 'nuts'.

Is there an adapter, am I being stupid? Should I try and find a Thule roofbox instead ? Any help much appreciated in advance!

Tried that - still no joy, it seems the holes don't line up enough for front and back together only one or the other - not sure how an adaptor will solve it :/

If it's just that the Merc has bars that are located in a way that they can't be moved to line up with the existing holes in the box then drill a couple of new ones wherever it's not quite fitting. If the bars can be moved and it's close to fitting already then just shift them a bit, even if it's technically not where the instructions want you to put them on the car.

If the issue is that the u brackets won't fit over the new bars then you can buy adapters to change the fittings to T track - might still need holes drilling mind you.

So long as you're already using some sort of load spreader/gasket in the roof box side drilling the box will be fine
