Roofbox security

I'm thinking of getting a roofbox to transport my skis.
I have two questions regarding security of roofboxes and I'm hoping someone here can help.

1. how secure are the contents of the box? I may have to leave my skis in them for a couple of hours whilst in an retail shopping area car park

2. How securely are the boxes attached to the cars roof rails? I may have to leave the car in an airport's longstay car park when I go skiing.

My roofbox (Thule Atlantis 200) is secured form inside the box to the rails. Not easy to remove.
the lock on the box is not bad, I left my all my belongings in the box when we went shopping for the whole day on route back from our last holiday.
All in all..as long as its not known whats in the box, and its parked in a very public place, I would gues you would have little if not no problem
