Rooney - 2 B Sold

Daniel Taylor from the guardian mentioned he'd heard there'd be a statement, and he's usually pretty good.

The club I joined is not the club I am now at. The supporters deserve my ambition not the debt the Glazers have planted on the club. I spent that much energy last season, as the Glazers would not rebuild once Ronaldo left, I was too tired for the World Cup etc. I am going to xyz and I will kiss the badge in 2 weeks.

Edit: My prediction not what he has said :-)

Why would any club pay £40m on a player that only has 18 months on his contract, has made it clear he won't sign a new deal, wants to leave and is at a club where they can't afford to risk letting his contract run down?

The only possible answer is madness from City in a bid to ensure the Glazers overrule Fergie and accept a bid from them.

Because the competition to sign him will be fierce.

What are the details of this buying himself out of his contract? Surely this can't be possible or it would happen all the time....?

Competition is irrelevant if Rooney turns around to Utd and says I'll only sign for club x. Utd have very limited bargaining power.

And it is possible for Rooney to buyout his deal. The rule is something along the lines of; if you're under 21(?) and you've completed 3 years of your current deal then you can buyout the value of the remainder of your contract but if you're over 21 you only have had to complete 2 years of the deal iinm.

As above, it's possible but it would no doubt be challenged by Utd and could be long winded and very messy.

My mate summed it up best:

I've watched enough wrestling to see how this one will pan out...

Rooney will seem unhappy at United so will leave ungracefully, starting his transition to heel. As the bidding war for his signature reaches a climax, Rooney at the final day of the transfer window will sign for City – there by becoming the biggest heel in the industry.

He fits into the squad like a glove and City start their chase for the title. In post-match interviews Rooney, joined by Tevez, will continually slam United; labelling them as the weaker side of Manchester – drawing even more heat from the crowds.

As the season progresses, three contenders emerge from the rest of the pack as clear contenders for the title – Chelsea, Man City and Man United. Come the end of the season all teams are inseparable, so there’s only one thing for it – the first ever three-way triple-threat football match to determine the premier league champions.

It’s a disaster for Chelsea as they get 5 players sent off in the opening 3 minutes, and as such can no longer compete in the match, leaving just City v United.

It’s 0-0 and going into injury time when out of nowhere City get a break. It’s two against the goalkeeper – just Rooney and Tevez.
Rooney has the ball in the box.
Keeper comes out to dispossess him.
Tevez screams for the pass so he can slot it into the open net.
A sadistic smile creeps across Rooney’s face.

BAM!

Rooney hits Tevez with the steel chair rendering him unconscious, takes off his City shirt only to reveal a United shirt underneath! It’s been a hoax all along! Rooney and Ferguson have played City like a violin! Rooney turns around – hoofs the ball to Berbatov - he brings it down – turns, shoots. Goal!

United are 2012 champions and the greatest storyline in premier league history comes to a close.

or... he goes to real and keeps the bench warm, as ronaldo and higuain bang in another 60 next season.

BREAKING NEWS:Rooney admits personally he wants to leave!
Apparently he met Gill last week and wasnt happy with the future plans etc.
Still in two minds if i want him to go to city....despite the reports saying utd will do whatever is possible to not sell to us, im sure 40m+ will change the Glazers.
