Rooney - 2 B Sold

It does make me laugh that when players like Fabregas or Ronaldo pull stunts like this we excuse them because "all South Americans/Europeans want to play for Real/Barca". Fabregas has toyed with Arsenal for the past two summers (suggesting he would leave for more or less the same reasons Rooney gave) but they still love him - Rooney does it for a week and all the Arsenal fans come in crowing about it. I suggest they wind their necks in a bit.

All fine if Rooney was going back to his boyhood club, instead he did all this to blackmail more money out of Man Utd

Besides it wasn't Arsenal fans who even brought it up, so no reason to hate

Oh dear lol.

Fact is Fabregas didnt screw Arsenal for more money...hes always said he wants to go back to Barca, Arsenal have known that for years now...same with Ronaldo, he always had his sights set on going to play for Real and he did for an enormous £80mill fee...well done on Utd for getting that much. But Fabregas is still playing for Arsenal so how you can compare that situation to the utter shambles of Rooney and his 2 facedness is truly beyond me

Now Rooney hasnt once said that he wants to play for another team...he just manipulated the situation to his advantage ie more money and in the process of doing so angering a lot of Utd fans.

I suggest you wind your neck in..and lets not forget enough of you Utd fans came in putting the knife in about the Fabregas saga over the summer...i will also suggest you stop taking things so personally.

Fabregas is there because he has to be not because he wants to be. The length of time left on his contract and Barca spending all the money over the summer leaving them little left is why Fabregas is still at Arsenal.

He was stuck with Arsenal this year, hell the Spainish players told us that often enough after the world cup. He said nothing about loyalty to Arsenal until Barca couldn't meet the fee arsenal wanted.

Had Cesc had 18 months left on his deal he would have been able to go to Barca for the stupidly low fees that Arsenal usually give players up for. He would have gone for 300 pesetas and not given two ****s about arsenal.

So what you're saying is you'd prefer to have your players publicly state they want to play for another team rather than ask for more money at their current club? :/

Sunday Mirror balls but as much balls as the rest of the speculation people seem to take as gospel.

Wayne Rooney turned down an astonishing £85million deal to join Manchester City when he signed a new *contract with United, the *Sunday Mirror can reveal.

The player – who cancelled a birthday party and secretly flew out of Britain with wife Coleen yesterday – was set to pick up a signing-on fee of £10million plus wages of £75million if he had completed the switch to Man United’s arch-rivals.

Can't all have been about money then.

Sounds like bull... or Rooney was scared for his life and his family if he jumped ship.

Come off it, why would he be scared. He'd already commited a huge sin to go from a team he loved to one he grew up hating. There are areas of Liverpool where he would get killed as well.

You proved my point, people are only willing to believe the stuff that's in the papers that they want to believe. A more positive story and it's BS. That he was looking for comitment of ambition from the club BS.

That he was after a bigger contract and held the club to randsom, must be true.

or this little gem from Evra...

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, one of Wayne Rooney’s biggest dressing-room critics last week, has adopted the same position as his team-mate and said he will only stay at Old Trafford if he believes the club are capable of winning major trophies.

With Rooney signing up for five years on Friday, attention will switch to Evra’s contract
situation with his current deal at United running out in 18 months.

The club may bring talks forward after originally planning to meet the France left-back in the summer.

Evra admits United need to be challenging at the top to keep him happy.

‘I will not play any more for this club if I know we are not strong enough to win the
League. This is why we play for Man United,’ he said

Or my personal favourite...

Wayne Rooney told Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson he didn't want to end up like Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard - carrying a team with a great history but no future.

All a mere distraction from what actually happened. Rooney has landed himself an incredible sum of money per week - and all he had to do was say he questioned the club's ambition.

Lol what a lad, I already forgive him :p

Missed the game today.

What kind of reaction was there to Rooney?

I know he's injured but was he at the game, or did the fans sing his name.

Daily fail link but I'd love to see the uncut interview...

Ferguson has been one of the greatest managers the game has ever seen. But he has also been one of its most unpleasant. And anyone who doubts that should have seen the extended version of his second emotional press conference last week, when he suddenly turned on some poor unsuspecting journalist and spat vile abuse in his direction.
