Hey all, hope everyone is well?

I'm currently learning Swedish and having a few private lessons a week. I've been using the net and listening to various Swedish radio/tv stations online, but I would like some sort of package that I can use while at home, on my lunch break and in the car.

Does anyone know how decent Rosetta Stone is, or can recommend an alternative?

Thank you.

Used rosetta stone at uni, very good and wold recommend it above others.

An alternative is Eurotalk + Talknow.

Yep I love BYKI :)
Got Thai and Russian versions and is useful for learning some words.

Rosetta Stone is decent too, some images are a bit open to interpretation though ;)

Rosetta Stone is OK - I use it for Mandarin Chinese at the moment. It's good, but with a language like Chinese you also need to use other resources to learn how to write characters etc as well.

I'm using Rosetta Stone for German, it's good stuff though I keep tripping up on grammar because it's pretty rubbish at teaching the grammar rules.

Slightly off topic, but how hard would it be to learn Japanese? not write it, just speak it.
I know its ment to be difficult...?

It just depends how much time and effort you are willing to put in. Most languages are very difficult to become fluent in them unless you are living in the Country.

I have friends at Uni who have learnt this from their first year. They said speaking it isn't so bad once you get taught for about a month. I would personally go with a 'teach yourself' pack. I have found those CD/Books to be the best around. Not only for grammar, but also in introducing the person to reading and writing. Which in my opinion is of great importance when learning any language!

edit: Just a quick note that came to my head, my friend back in 6th form's brother studied Japanese for a year and said it was the easiest language he had ever learnt!
