Rotating a video by 90 degrees

Hi

I took some videos with a basic SLR camera with the camera rotated 90 degrees.I now need to rotate the videos so that they appear the correct way up when played through a media player without squashing/stretching the images.

Can anyone recommend the easiest way to do this with free software.

windows movie maker does it, i used it a few times works fine. free and built in.

Yes I read that... Work PCs still on windows XP so movie maker support isnt great unless i missed something.
