I was thinking of getting a power amp to drive my front speakers, B&W CM9 rated 50-200w @ 8ohms nominal.
I think my current AVR (pioneer SC-LX71) isn't capapble of delivering enough power to them, and I don't want to clip my fronts. I cannot Bi-amp because i would lose the 7.1 goodness
. pio pwr specs are a bit confusing. but from what I can see on the manual it leads me to believe that they can do 90w per channel all channel driven (ie 630w/7)
I was thinking of using an additional power amp to drive the fronts and use the AVR to power the center, surrounds back and side. The Rotel 1572 (2x250 @8ohms) http://www.hifigear.co.uk/site/scripts/product_browse.php?product_id=7090&category_id=690 seems like a likely candidate. I like it's class D so smaller and cooler than the 1582 Class A/B (2x200 @8ohms)
Plan is to connect pwr amp to AVR using Chord Cobra 3 audio interconnects. http://www.hifigear.co.uk/site/scripts/product_browse.php?product_id=107&category_id=174
Any1 have any thoughts on this?
