Rough cost of driveway

A house I'm looking at doesn't currently have parking but it has been granted planning permission for it

Is there a rough cost that anyone would know for throwing down enough tarmac to create a double parking space and the associated ground work?

Depends on your location and the cost of goods at the time, also if you want to do the work yourself or get someone in to do it.

As a side note, tarmac is not recommended as a parking base as its not designed to have constant weight (i.e parked cars over night) you should really be looking at more permeable surfaces or well drained concrete.

Does it have planning permission for tarmac, when I looked into moving mine from back to front the council pack stated that the surface had to be permeable or frequent soak-aways if concrete or tarmac as BigBoy says.

This is why I was looking at block paving for mine, haven't had a quote yet as so many other things crop up but someone said to me it'd be around £5k including the lowering of the kerb and council signing off.

I've not looked at what the planning permission states as I don't know if we are going for it yet or not. Good point on tarmac though, if it is easy enough to do then I'm happy to do some of the work myself but it isn't something I have done before

If it means I get to use a mini digger then I'm all for it

I've just literally had mine completed in Surrey. £6k on the nose for 80 square metres, and that's fully finished and 10 year warranty. All digging, materials, crush, sand, blocks, edging, sand, large soakaway with full length acco drainage. I had quotes ranging from roughly £5k up to £10k, and I trusted these based on friends using them.

Drop down followed and cost us roughly £1,300 with Surrey county council. I tendered the job to each and every company on their approved list, and again I trusted these the most based on phone conversations and conversing over e-mail.

Hope this helps...

Going back a few years it was actually dearer to have tarmac than imprint concrete, I had roughly 65 sq meters can't remember exactly if that correct can get 3 cars on.

So I had the imprint done, this is the second house now for me , I prefer it over tarmac it cost £ 3700 all in with drainage as there is a slight slope on the drive .

Good luck
