Rough cost to upgrade old desktop?

I'm thinking of upgrading my several years old desktop and the cost involved determines whether I do so in the next few months or leave it for the foreseeable future. I'm completely out of the loop with prices. Please could you help and give me a rough ball-park indication of how much a set of internal parts for a low to mid range Skylake desktop would cost i.e. just a motherboard and processor (with cooler) plus 8Gb ram. I can build it myself.

I don't play computer games and my 60" tv used as a monitor is 1080p so I have no need for higher resolutions. I want it to be able to play bluray perfectly and to be able to output over HDMI to my amp, but I assume integrated graphics will cover this as standard by now. I do care a fair bit about sound quality for listening to music and on movies, but considering audio will be sent digitally over HDMI I assume a dedicated sound card is pointless for most people these days?

Lastly I have an Antec VERIS Fusion 430 case, could I re-use this? Or have motherboard designs changed so it wouldn't be compatible?

Thanks in advance for replies/suggestions!

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

You'll need a m-ATX board with that case. Considering your needs an i3 seems the sensible option and the Iris i-GPU should be fine for what you want.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £202.43
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Edited to change to the correct DDR4 :)
