Rough surface masking tape.

Does anyone have a recommendation for masking tape that will work on a rough surface. Looking to mask some painting on an outdoor wooden bench that is not particularly smooth.

Just some exterior masking tape should be alright. Perhaps avoid cheap stuff so it doesn’t lift at the edge.
Duck or 3M, can’t recall if Frogtape do some, probably do.

Probably, what is it? Can it do straight lines?

It's masking that you paint on. Once it's dry you can paint and then peal it back off.

Without knowing exactly what you're doing I don't know if it'd be suitable.

I'd suggest you stick 'liquid making tape' into Google.
