Most graphics cards based on AMD technology require the third monitor in an Eyefinity set-up to be a DisplayPort monitor, or connected with an active DisplayPort Adapter. The SAPPHIRE FleX family can support three DVI monitors in Eyefinity mode and deliver a true SLS (Single Large Surface) work area without the need for costly active adapters. The first two monitors are connected to the two DVI ports and the third to an HDMI to DVI cable (supplied) with no extra hardware required.
The SAPPHIRE HD 6950 FleX is now the highest performing card with this feature, allowing gamers to use low-cost DVI monitors for all three screens. Additional monitors can be added to the setup, but must be DisplayPort connected.
Like the standard HD 6950, the SAPPHIRE HD 6950 FleX Edition boasts true DX 11 capability and the powerful configuration of 1408 stream processors and 88 texture processing units. With its clock speeds of 800MHz for the core and 1250Mhz (5 Gb/sec effective) for the memory this model brings multi-screen enjoyment to even hard-core gamers.

TweakIt provides users with flexible overclocking control even when running benchmark programs! The “+” and “-” button puts overvolting adjustments in the user´s fingertips, offering them performance optimization options during game play to gain the competitive edge.

ProbeIt takes the guesswork out of locating the graphics card´s measurement points, identifying them clearly in the form of 6 sets of detection points so you´ll know exactly where to get quick yet accurate readings using a multimeter.

Safe Mode button resets the graphics card back to default frequencies & BIOS. This is a very welcomed feature for hardware enthusiasts, think of it like the "Clear CMOS" on a motherboard.

Built with exclusive 19-phase Super Alloy Power technology, the MATRIX GTX 580 guarantees much greater overclocking headroom, with a 15% performance boost, 2.5 times longer lifespan and 35°C cooler operation than the reference card design.

Cooling is well taken care of by exclusive DirectCU II technology that puts copper heat pipes in direct contact with the GPU. The pipes efficiently transfer heat through two massive fans that deliver 600% more airflow than the reference design, resulting in a 20% lower operating temperatures.

A multicolored LED MATRIX indicator at the rear of the ROG MATRIX GTX 580 gives an instant and easy-to-understand visual display of the current GPU load.

Whats better? The 2GB Saphire GPU or the ASUS?

Probably not a great deal in it, but the Sapphire comes with Dirt 3 and the Asus has the superior cooling solution, althoguh it is a 3 slot card rather than 2 slot like the Sapphire.

Do you have the space for teh Asus or would you prefer Dirt3 is pretty much what it comes down to I suspect :p

oh and the outputs are slightly different on the two cards but the text says that the asus has
Display Connectors: 2 Dual-Link DVI-I, 1 HDMI & 2x Mini-DisplayPort
but the picture looks more like 2 DVI and 4 HDMI to me...

Coolings a big thing for me.
Any ideas as to what the temp differences would be between the 2?

EDIT: Will an 850w run a Crossfire Asus 6950 Flashed to 6970?
Other Specs: 2600k, P8P67 Pro, 2 340gb HDDs, 8gb 1600mhz RAM.

why asus cant stick two slot cooler that 1 gig 6950 has on 2 gig card beyond me

I believe they do do one with a two slot cooler on it but also do this extra large cooler for people that want the lower operating temps, especially handy if you want to overclock I guess :)

about 35 degrees cooler according to the blurb :)

If you reread the blurb as you put it you will notice that it says the same for both cards, so don't think that the triple slot design is 35 degrees cooler than the dual slot design.

Yeah good point, I think the blurb for both the Asus cards is the same by mistake, but the Sapphire one doesn't say it runs 35 degrees cooler :)
