rounding numbers

Assuming you are talking pounds as money and not weight...
One hundred and thirty one thousand, six hundred pennies.

yeh i had to round that number to the nearest penny and some classmates divided it by a thousand to get 1.316 and they claim its right..

as im not maths expert i thought id ask..

To get pennies from pounds simply add two zeros to the end (assuming the number you start with is rounded itself) - £1 is 100 pennies.

In this example £1,316 would be 131,600 pence.

However £1,316 is already rounded so as others have already pointed out this is slightly confusing.

1316 whats and how do you convert them into pennies? Are they units of magnification as they don't have a unit suffix, but I don't think you can turn them into pennies? :(

Edit: Oh pounds. Okay I'm special too.
