Router problem:
We're trying to lan at home, and two of the pcs have been working wihtout a problem for over 24 hours, and they still work. We then try to connect a 3rd pc, and the internet refuses to work. The light is on on both the router and the ethernet port on the pc, so the connection is good, and in network connections it says its connected at 400mpbs or whatever. But its not sending or receiving any packets, and therefore nothing will work. He was using wireless at home, if that makes any difference.

external problem:
its not being picked up at all, it worked on my pc that we were getting the files from, but it wont be picked up on the other pc. the lights on on the hdd, so its connected, but it does show in my computer anywhere

Thanks in advance

Try checking the PCs IP address and make sure its set to recieve DHCP if thats enabled on your network or that you have specified all the addresses need.
Also firewall settings, some firewalls like to go into lock down if they are connected to a new network.
Also try pinging the router.
