Router and Homeplugs

If my router is not physically connected to my main pc, and connects at approx 7mb, will using homeplugs (85mbps) to connect the router and pc slow my main pc's download speed?

does it equate to 85mbps = 10mb transfer rate roughly?

cheers all for your avice, will try homeplugs first then switch to wireless adapter if no joy
