Hi I was wonder if its possible to use a ADSL router as a Wifi hotpot using the Ethernet port ?

In basic I have internet access via cable but no wifi and have a sky hub.

You can't do it with the sky hub.

Some routers can but it sounds like you need an access point.

Not sure on your setup, but yes it is possible to use an old router as a wireless access point, doing the exact same thing myself in I'm man cave to provide WiFi, a switch for wired devices and print server.

Some routers have a dedicated access point mode otherwise you will need it to be hardwired to your original router, set its IP address to a spare IP and turn-off DHCP.

Thanks, well the old router i have is a sky adsl hub so im not sure if that will work. if it wont i may as well buy a access point.
