Router being weird...

Hi there

Well I unplugged my router before as I usually do if I am going out somewhere or it's just not in use, but then decided I wasn't actually going to go out so reconnected it. But now, when I've switched it back on, the icons on it are flashing like mad, even when I'm not actually doing anything on my computer that uses the internet. I am using a Netgear router and the 'Internet', 'Wireless' and ethernet port connections are all flashing. Is someone using my network or something? I have a password encrypted network but the wireless icon keeps flashing every so many seconds, not like its downloading something but the main internet icon is flashing a lot as if it's loading something/downloading. I'm not currently downloading anything or connected to anything that uses the internet, apart from internet explorer so I have no idea what could be causing this. Does anyone have any idea whats happening and how to solve it?

Thanks for your help and time.

Edit: My sister has a laptop with built-in wireless but I have just checked and her laptop is switched off so it can't be that.

Id say you've probably screwed the firmware by unpluging it and plugging it back in so many times, try doing a hard reset using the button on the back. Our Belkin used to do soething similiar, just ignored it after a while

just log onto the router and check if anyone is logged onto it.

Probably the ip is http://192.168.0.1 and the login is admin with password 1234

I doubt someone is on it unless you have wep turned on as that's pretty easy to crack.

I have checked the router and the only thing that is connected is me, it's just showing the LAN port that the router is connected to. Also, I have WPA-PSK password encryption enabled on it aswell. I tried resetting it but nothing happened and the wireless icon is still blinking. It's not blinking as if it's downloading something, basically it blinks like every 1-2 seconds and sometimes the internet icon one does the same thing. It's weird considering it was working perfectly before that.

Which Netgear is it? You could always just upgrade the firmware to a fresh (newer) version. That should sort it out if ;) Is it the DG834GT? DGTeam firmware is highly recommended if so.
