I hope you can help me guys. I've got a Netgear DG384 Router and its been randomly losing connection over the past few months. The router reconnects automatically after 2 minutes or so, but it is incredibly annoying when trying to game on this Internet line as theres no constant connection. The router log looks like this:

Thu, 2011-07-28 02:44:59 - LCP down.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:45:06 - Initialize LCP.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:45:06 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:45:07 - CHAP authentication success
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:55:16 - LCP down.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:55:23 - Initialize LCP.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:55:23 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Thu, 2011-07-28 02:55:23 - CHAP authentication success
Thu, 2011-07-28 04:13:23 - LCP down.
Thu, 2011-07-28 04:13:30 - Initialize LCP.
Thu, 2011-07-28 04:13:30 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Thu, 2011-07-28 04:13:31 - CHAP authentication success
Thu, 2011-07-28 09:14:21 - LCP down.
Thu, 2011-07-28 09:14:27 - Initialize LCP.
Thu, 2011-07-28 09:14:28 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Thu, 2011-07-28 09:14:29 - CHAP authentication success

In some instances, the "LCP Down" part of the log doesn't actually appear at all. This problem even occurs during the night, so it won't be something i'm doing. I am using a set of homeplugs to get the connection upstairs in the house but the connection has been perfect before. My filters for the phones have not all been changed at all, and i haven't rung to check if my line is ok yet.

I was really just wondering what might cause this loss of connection and what might affect LCP? Thanks in advance.

Greetings

Initialize LCP just means the router is trying to make a connection to the radious server.
The connection could be dropping out for any number of reasons.

I would say get a hold of the DMT tool for netgear 834 routers,
Set this up to monitor the connection and the snr's and leave it running over night,
If the connection drops off again this might show you why.

Thanks for the quick answer, but when i try to connect DMT its reads "Error: cannot identify modemtype". How do i go about solving that?

Edit: It works now never mind, i'll use this and see what i get :)
