Ive been using my router as a firewall, but according to my Old ZAP firewall it blocked several attacks, back then I had a different router, will my DG834N be strong enough.

Not really, does a pretty good job for external attacks but IMO you still need a software firewall to monitor/control anything outbound. Malware and viruses on your machine can open a port and your router certainly won't know anything about it.

took your advice, now i get limited access with mcfee home security and comodo, i had to uninstall them.
